    HOLIDAY HOUSE DECORATING CONTEST

    Registration is now open for Ocean City’s annual Holiday House Decorating Contest. The deadline to sign up is at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

    Judging will take place the evenings of Dec. 14 and 15 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Prizes include gift certificates for shopping in downtown Ocean City and gift baskets from the city and the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce.

    Pictures of all entries will be posted on social media on Friday, Dec. 15 so that the public can vote for the People’s Choice Award. Voting will end Sunday, Dec. 17.

    Registration, information, online voting and a list of all participating houses will be posted at ocnj.us/holidayhouse.

    Congratulations to Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham for breaking the franchise record for most games played at 189 and counting! Graham was a special guest at Ocean City’s Sports Memorabilia Show in April. The event will return to the Music Pier on April 20 in 2024.

    It’s not too early to think about celebrating the arrival of 2024 at Ocean City’s family-friendly First Night New Year’s Eve celebration. All-inclusive admission buttons are still available at the discounted price, but not for long!

    • At the City Hall Welcome Center at 861 Asbury Avenue (9th Street entrance): 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
    • At the Roy Gillian Welcome Center (9th Street causeway): 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
    • At the 46th Street Welcome Center (4500 block of West Avenue): 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday thru Sunday.

    First Night offers more than 70 entertain programs at 20 different venues throughout town on Dec. 31. One $17 (inclusive of fees) button is good for all programs. Don’t wait, because button sales are limited at the price goes up to $22 (inclusive of fees) on Dec. 1.

    Headline entertainment at the Ocean City Music Pier this year will include “GYPSY,” a tribute to the music of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac; and “Motor City,” a revue of Motown’s greatest hits. The return of perennial favorites like outdoor ice-skating (with extended hours this year), rides at Wonderland Pier, magic shows, the Harlem Wizards and a variety of musical performances also highlight the entertainment lineup. The Ocean City Pops will perform with a returning favorite – the Chicago tribute band Brass Transit. In their first-ever First Night appearance, the Atlantic City Ballet will perform a holiday show.

    First Night’s 2024 sponsors include the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Cape May County Division of Culture and Heritage, McMahon Insurance Agency, Ocean City Free Public Library, Wonderland Pier and Atlantic City Electric.
