This is the Week of Ocean City’s Quiet Festival. Here is a list of the remaining activities:

Fri., Nov. 13, noon, the inspirational Yawn Along and Maple Pod Drop for in front of City Hall, 9th and Asbury Ave. Yawn Alongers will be accompanied by the World’s Only Wind Chimes Band as they yawn to the tune of Beautiful Dreamer.

Nov. 13, 12:30 p.m., Dutch Treat Lunch at Chatterbox, 9th and Central Ave. No chattering or boxing permitted. Meet officials of NAP, National Assn. of Tired People, and learn about their laid back organization.

Nov. 13 at 2 p.m., Quiet Festival visits primary school for folk singing session, Yo Yo demonstration and environmental message from Trash Buster, the Canned Crusader.

Sat., Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. in front of Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, a lilting concert by the World’s only Wind Chimes Band. Sat., Nov. 14 at 11:30 a.m.: World’s First Pin Dropping Challenge in front of Music Pier. Don’t ask. Just be there with your favorite safety or straight pin and be prepared to drop it on a metal plate. Quietest droppers receive Pin Head of the Year Award. Contest is free. Pins provided to the pin-less.

Sat., Nov. 14 at 2 p.m., classic folk concert at Wesley by the Bay. Non residents are welcome but must make reservations, call 609-525-9300.

Sun., Nov.15, you’re on your own. Go fly a kite, take a nature walk, read a book, watch a football game with the sound turned off.

TWO HUGE CHARITY ART & CRAFT Fairs will be held at the Music Pier, Nov. 14-15 and 21-22. Over 150 fine artisans, artists and gourmet food specialists, many who are new and have never been here before, will be featured. Holiday items will be offered at both events and there will be a new group of crafters scheduled for both shows. All profits are donated to the Ocean City Food Cupboard and other local charities. Hours are 10 a.m., to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Nearby parking is free. Charitable admission is $3, children are free. Events are produced by the Jersey Shore Artisans Guild, 609-399-9998.

Here are some holiday events on the horizon:

THE EARLIER THAN THE BIRD Downtown Shopping Extravaganza, Sat., Nov. 21 in the downtown from 7 a.m. till noon on Asbury Ave. from 6th to 11th Sts. Stores will be offering specials, free coffee and coffee mugs, give-aways and entry forms to win one of many $25 Downtown Gift Certificates. Merchants will be dressed in pajamas for the early morning event and shoppers are invited to come dressed in pj’s, too. Those judged to be sporting the best sleep wear will win a turkey. They’ll meet Santa who will also be in pajamas.

THE MERCHANTS will follow up Earlier than the Bird with CHRISTMAS IN THE DOWNTOWN, “Our Miracle on Asbury Ave.,” on Fri., Nov. 27. This will be an old fashioned, down home celebration with late night shopping on Friday, entertainment, refreshments, gift certificates and giveaways plus dining and shopping specials all weekend long. There will be Breakfast with Santa at a different Downtown Restaurant every Saturday and Sunday. And of course Santa will be making his famous descent from the CITY HALL ROOF on Friday at 5 p.m. It’s a sight to behold. Don’t miss it!

COMING ATTRACTIONS: The Ocean City Fine Arts League continues its series of Art Films on Nov.19 starting 7 p.m. at St. Peters United Methodist Church, 8th and Central Ave. The film “Impressionist, Part 1” will be shown and a discussion will follow. Cost is $5. For information, call 814-0308.
