The Ocean City Theatre Co. and the Ocean City Repertory Theater will both present Valentine’s programs this weekend.

Michael Hartman’s O.C. Theatre group is offering a Cabaret of Broadway Love Songs on Sat., Feb. 12 at the Hughes Performing Arts Center, 6th and Atlantic Ave. starting 7:15 p.m. with a Dessert reception. The program begins at 8 p.m. The Show will feature an array of unforgettable love songs plus production numbers from West Side Story and Wicked. The Theatre’s professional cast of performers presented outstanding shows with the Ocean City Pops this past summer and recently during First Night. They return to offer the community a delightful Valentine. Tickets purchased before 4 p.m., Feb. 11 are $12 a person, $18 thereafter. Flossi Micciolo’s Ocean City Repertory Theater, 813 Asbury Ave., has scheduled its fourth annual Romance ThroughThe Ages for Sat., Feb.12 at 7 p.m. and Sun., Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. The program spans the ages, from Renaissance expressions of love to modern songs of endearment. You’ll hear yesterday’s ballads from poets like Robert Burns, Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Shakespeare as well as contemporary classics including EmbraceableYou and the Beatles’ All You Need is Love.

“Lose yourself and fall in love all over again when you give this gift of music,” says Flossi. “It’s a Valentine’s present to savor with someone you love.”

The Ocean City Historical Museum, 17th and Simpson Ave., has scheduled its Annual Tea for Sat., Feb.12 from 2 to 4 p.m. Theme is How We Get to Ocean City: Trains, Automobiles and Planes and is ideal for children from 6-12. They will be invited to play games, do arts and crafts and enjoy an afternoon tea. Pre-registration and payment is required at $3 per person. An adult must accompany every three children. The Ocean Free Public Library, 17th and Simpson Ave., will present something different on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. It will be an audience participation Game Show, Lucky Guess. Contestants are asked multiple questions with the audience also encouraged to shout out the answers. One contestant eventually becomes the Champion and prizes are awarded. The game show will be held in the Library’s Lecture Room N110, enter from the 17th St. side. The contest is suitable for children.

On Sun., Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. learn about Human Evolution over the past five million years. Samantha Fox of the University of Pennsylvania’s Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology will deliver a fascinating lecture, Human Evolution in a Nutshell at the Library. The program will also cover how our ancestors developed large brains, symbolism, religion and a deep sense of culture. The talk will be held in the Lecture Room N110.

The Library’s Winter Film Group is showing The Purple Rose of Cairo (PG) on Mon., Feb. 14 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., The Unforgiven (R) on Mon., Feb. 28 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. with Dr. Walter Brown who will discuss each film briefly. Program is free.

Free Library Saturday Afternoon Movies at 2 p.m. include Secretariat (PG) on Feb. 5 and You Again (PG) on Feb. 19. Refreshments will be provided.

The Odd Couple, an update of the Comedy Classic, will be performed by the S&L Players on Sat., Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. and Sun., Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. in the Lecture Room N110 and is free. It features local actors Sam Sardina and Leanne Mc Giffin of Galloway, Scott Higby of Absecon and Bette Kaminsky of Ocean City. The Ocean City Garden Club is chartering a bus to the Philadelphia Flower Show on Wed., March 9th. The bus leaves the 10th St. Bus station at 1 p.m. and departs the Flower Show at 7 p.m. If interested, contact Donna Halper 609-653-2921.
