LULU TEMPLE, a philanthropic organization that supports free children’s hospitals in Philadelphia and throughout the country, will visit Ocean City May 29-30. LuLu has been coming to Ocean City for 47 years and will be led by Potentate, Joel L. Ward.

The charitable organization will celebrate its 125 Anniversary with a band concert 8 p.m. at the Music Pier on Friday and a Saturday parade on the Boardwalk at 1 p.m. from 6th to 12th Sts.

The concert band was organized in 1891 and is the oldest of all the 191 Shrine Centers in North America. The free program will include varied selections of show tunes and patriotic music. It ends with a rousing rendition of Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever.

Ocean City’s RESTAURANT WEEK is set for May 28 through June 7. Thirty restaurants and various snack shops are participating in the event. There will be lunch specials for $10.09, Dinner specials for $20.09 and children’s meals for $5.99, tax and gratuity not included.

Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Community Food Bank. Association members will accept donations of canned food and checks made out to the food bank. For information visit www.eatinocnj.com.

The Annual BOARDWALK SPRING FAMILY FUNFEST is set for May 30 and 31st on the Boardwalk. There will be a juried craft show, bands, face painters and pony rides for children at 11th St. from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Boardwalk Merchants Assn.

GUARDED BEACHES: From Sat., May 30 through Fri., June 5, the following beaches will be guarded: St. Charles Place, Brighton Place, 8, 9, 11,12, 14, 18, 26, 30, 34, 44 and 57th Streets. Beaches are guarded from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekends and holidays and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. week days.

THE WORLD OF SONG AND DANCE featuring talented orphans from Uganda and Nepal is set for the Tabernacle, 5th and Wesley Ave., on Sun., May 31 at 7 p.m. The children will sing to draw attention to the plight of orphans throughout the world.
