The July fun in Ocean City continues this week with a sand-sculpting contest and salutes to Neil Diamond and Broadway by the Ocean City Pops, a concert by Jersey Shore icons Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, and more.
Wednesday night (July 5) brings a Neil Diamond tribute band performing with the Ocean City Pops. The Super Diamond show begins at 8 p.m. on the Ocean City Music Pier.Tickets are $35/$25 and available at oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice, 609-399-6111, or the Music Pier Box Office.
Ocean City’s first Sand-Sculpting Contest of the summer will take place on the beach at Sixth Street on Thursday, July 6.Registration is free and begins at 9 a.m. Judging takes place by 11 a.m. For more information, call 609-399-6111.
Meet the Ocean City Pops Woodwind Quintet during a concert of favorites from television and film featuring “The Unhappy Aardvark,” an enchanting tale with a happy ending. The “Sounds Like Fun: Kids Free Chamber Music Concert” begins at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 6 at the Ocean City Music Pier. Free admission for concert of about 45 minutes.
The Ocean City Historical Museum invites everybody to the Senior Center within the Ocean City Community Center (1735 Simpson Ave.) on Saturday, July 8 to shop from the best known antique and collectible dealers in the region. Admission to the Antiques and Collectibles Fair is free and hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Look for china, glass, furniture, vintage collectibles, postcards, jewelry, textiles and more. The Broadway Salute With the Ocean City Pops features vocalists Jennie Eisenhower and Dominic Inferrera on Sunday, July 9. Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes make their Ocean City Music Pier debut on Monday, July 10. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Music Pier, 825 Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Tickets start at $42. REGISTRATION STILL OPEN FOR NIGHT IN VENICE
Ocean City’s Night in Venice celebration will be “Rockin’ Through the Decades” this year on July 22, and entries are currently being accepted from all those who want to participate in the 63rd annual bayfront celebration.
The optional theme will be “Rockin’ Through the Decades,” a celebration of music, fashion and culture on the rolling waters of the bay. Entries for boats and homes are currently being accepted online at www.ocnj.us/niv or by calling 609-399-6111.
Alfonso Ribeiro will be grand marshal. Ribeiro is the new host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos ” and created the memorable character of Carlton Banks opposite Will Smith in “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.”
A limited number of tickets ($15) are on sale now for a meet-and-greet with Ribeiro from 11 a.m. to noon July 22 on the Ocean City Music Pier. Night in Venice also will celebrate its “Rockin’ Through the Decades” theme this year with concerts by O-Town with Ryan Cabrera and Gloria Gaynor with the Ocean City Pops orchestra.
O-Town and Cabrera will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, July 21 on the Ocean City Music Pier. The Night in Venice boat parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, July 22. Gaynor joins the Pops at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 23 on the Music Pier to round out the Decades Weekend.
Tickets are on sale for the Ribeiro meet-and-greet ($15), O-Town/Cabrera ($30) and Gaynor ($30-$35).
