What's Happening in Ocean City, NJ 3/23/16
A new category has been added to Ocean City’s annual Woof n’ Paws Pet Fashion Show on Saturday, March 26. It’s “Small Pets in Carriages,” a growing, national phenomenon.
It seems that an increasing number of pet owners have taken to rolling their small dogs, cats and whatevers through town in baby carriages to show them off and keep them comfortable. In recognition of this growing trend, Woof n’ Paws has decided to add the category to its competition.
The long-standing categories return: Best Dressed Dog, Best Dressed Cat, Swim Suit Division, Best Dressed Pet (Guinea Pigs, Turtles, Bunnies, Ferrets, etc.) Plus Best Bonnet, Pet/Owner Look-Alike and Intelligent Pet Tricks.
Pet owners will be able to compete in three categories for $5. Entry fee is collected by the Ocean City Humane Society, a no-kill, national award-winning shelter.
Best in Show will be awarded the Dean Schofield Woof n’ Paws Plaque for Perfection. The plaque honors the memory of Dean, a popular volunteer who served for years in the city’s Public Relations Division.
Woof n’ Paws will be held at Carey Stadium, 6th St. off Boardwalk. Spectators may watch the event from the grandstands. Registration begins at 10 a.m., competition at 11 a.m.
