Ocean City Boardwalk Welcomes Walk for Wounded and Corvette Show

What's Happening in Ocean City, NJ 9/19/18

More than 450 Corvettes will take over the Ocean City Boardwalk on Sunday, Sept. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The annual Corvette Show includes a range of models dating back to Corvette’s first in 1953 and extending to the present.

The show is one of the largest on the East Coast, and the line of vehicles will cover the boardwalk from Sixth Street to 14th Street. Due to the popularity of the event, it is now closed to new registrations.

An awards ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. in front of the Ocean City Music Pier (between Eighth Street and Ninth Street). The Ocean City Humane Society also will have a display in front of the Music Pier. Volunteers will be selling items and collecting donations to support the award-winning "no-kill" shelter.

Proceeds from registration fees benefit local charities. The show is sponsored by the Boardwalk Corvettes. For more information, call the club's hotline at 609-457-0081.

The 10th annual Walk for the Wounded will be held Saturday, Sept. 22 on the Ocean City Boardwalk. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Music Pier. A ceremony honoring soldiers is at 9:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 10 a.m. The entire extended Ocean City community has always come out in full support of this important fundraising event.

The three-mile walk on the boardwalk begins and ends at the Music Pier. All proceeds benefit Operation First Response, a nonprofit organization that provides both financial and emotional support to wounded soldiers and their families. TICKETS FOR JACKIE EVANCHO CHRISTMAS SHOW GO ON SALE THURSDAY

Platinum-selling, 18-year-old vocal sensation Jackie Evancho will return to the Ocean City Music Pier for a Christmas show 7:30 p.m. Nov. 24. Jackie will perform a selection of songs from her critically acclaimed “Someday at Christmas” album. Jackie’s Christmas show is filled with classic Christmas and popular holiday songs. Jackie will join musicians from the Ocean City Pops Orchestra to celebrate the holiday season in America’s Greatest Family Resort.

Jackie Evancho dazzled American television audiences at age 10, gaining global recognition with her stunning debut on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” Since then, she has released a string of platinum and gold albums with sales of over 2.5 million in the U.S., acted in Robert Redford’s “The Company You Keep” alongside Susan Sarandon and performed for President and Mrs. Obama at the National Christmas Tree Lighting in Washington D.C. Her broad successes lead Billboard Magazine to include Jackie on their list of “music movers-and-shakers under the age of 21” in 2011 and again in 2012.

Tickets are $45 and $35, and starting at 9 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 20), they can be purchased at oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice or by calling 609-399-6111.
