The Doo Dah Parade will feature the Basset Hound Waddle with over 500 of the floppy eared doggies, many sporting decorations; comical brigades, clowns, costumed characters and the Pie Asco, a massive pie in the face event in front of the Music Pier when the Parade ends. On Saturday night there will be a tribute to Abbott and Costello at the Library with impersonators introducing a classic movie.
And lest we forget, the Tri State County Basset Hound Rescue League will hold its popular Olympics on Friday at noon on the Tabernacle Grounds. The endearing doggies will jump over hurdles (or walk around them), run through tunnels, attempt a 20-yard sprint, and then flop on the grass for a snooze.

Mr. Mature America Pageant: We will be presenting updates on this new Pageant that celebrates the achievements and lives of men 60 and older to keep you properly impressed. Today’s news is that we intend to have women involved in this Pageant: Mary Beth Neal will be co-emcee. Soprano Nancy Fox and company will entertain between one of the segments as will famed, early TV performer, Peggy King, who has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Both of these women will be recognized for their continuing contributions to the entertainment business.
The Pageant will present its first, annual Inspiration Award to Atlantic City radio host Pinky Kravitz who recently celebrated over a half century on the radio and has used his program to raise money for many charitable events.
The Pageant, the first of its kind in the United States, will be held on Sat., March 22 starting 7 p.m. at the Music Pier. Bubba Mac’s Blues Band, all members over 60, will entertain from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Admission proceeds will benefit the City’s Food Cupboard and the Philippine Relief Fund. (Jan. 18) Ocean City will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., starting noon at the Hughes Performing Arts Center of Ocean City High School, 6th and Atlantic Ave. Dinner will be served immediately following the program in the High School Cafeteria. It will be provided free by the Shiloh Baptist Church. Donations Accepted. The public is invited.

(Feb. 7) The Ocean City Band Boosters will hold its Annual Pasta Dinner on Friday, Feb. 7 from 5-7 p.m. at the High School Cafeteria, 501 Atlantic Ave. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10. Take out dinners will be available beginning 4:30 p.m. Live entertainment will be provided by the instrumental groups of the High School including, Jazz Band and Jazz Rock. Advance tickets are available from band members or call (609) 399-1290, ext. 1248. Tickets will also be sold at the door. Proceeds benefit Band Boosters Senior Scholarships.
(Feb 15) Here’s a unique Valentine gift for that special someone. An Evening of Broadway Love Songs and Desserts will be presented by Michael Hartman’s Ocean City Theatre Co., at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Doors will open for dessert and show tickets at 7:15 p.m., show starts 8 p.m.
Dessert and show tickets are $20 if purchased by 4 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 11, $25 thereafter. Come and celebrate love with some of the most enchanting love songs ever to grace the stage.
