OCEAN CITY, N.J. ---Mollie Lavin was crowned Miss Ocean City 2009 at

the Music Pier on Saturday evening. She succeeds Andi Cocozza who was honored with a Piece of the ‘Walk from the City for her outstanding reign.

Lavin, 16, becomes the 40th Miss Ocean City selected by the Pageant produced by the Ocean City Exchange Club to benefit its charitable programs.

A student at Ocean City High School, Lavin is a former Little Miss Ocean City. She won the talent competition with a piano selection by Mozart. Her sponsor was Oves Seafood Restaurant.

First runner-up was Becky Young, 18, a student at West Chester University. Becky performed an operatic solo. Her sponsor was Kessel’s Korner.

Second runner-up was Caitlin Greene, 21, a student at St. Mary’s University. The talented vocalist was sponsored by Brother’s Corner Bakery and Ice Cream.

Third Runner-up was Myra McCann, 16, a student at Holy Spirit High. She performed a spirited Irish folk dance. Her sponsor was C.A. McCann & Sons Realtors.

Fourth Runner-up was Keirsten Stephens, 17, an Ocean City High School student. She performed a lively and unusual jazz dance. Her sponsor was Bob’s Grill.

Miss Ocean City will represent the community for the coming year. Her first duties will be to appear at the Pamper Scamper Baby Crawling Race on Tuesday (Aug.12) at 9:30 a.m. at the 6th Street Beach and in the Baby Parade, Thursday (Aug. 14) starting 10:15 a.m. running from 6th to 12 Sts. on the Boardwalk.
