Mayor Sal Perillo announced that arrangements have been made to provide free trolley service to the Downtown starting on August 1.

Mayor Perillo stated, "We continue to look for ways to increase business activity in Ocean City and this should be an incentive for more people to shop in our wonderful Downtown! This adds to long list of free entertainment, activities, and events offered in Ocean City"

Perillo thanked the Great American Trolley Company for providing this free service at no additional cost to the City and praised the Tourist Development Commission for supporting the continued growth of trolley service throughout the City.

Starting August 1 residents and visitors in Ocean City will enjoy free Downtown Trolley Service traveling the length of the island every day through Sunday, September 6th.

Jim Rutala, City Administrator noted, "The Downtown Trolley is a great way for downbeach residents to visit the Downtown and Boardwalk during the day. With over 40,000 riders in 2008, the trolley service has been very successful in getting people to use alternative means of transportation and leave their cars parked."

The Downtown Trolley runs daily from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The route is a continuous loop on Central Avenue from 59th Street to 29th Street and then to Asbury Avenue from 29th Street to Battersea Road. A hot line to contact the trolley driver to determine the schedule is available by calling 609.846.4058.

The popular Boardwalk Trolley will continue to run from 5:00 pm to 12:00 Midnight daily with the last pickup being at 11:30 pm. The Boardwalk Trolley will run every 15 minutes from 59th Street to Battersea Road on the street closest to the beach and boardwalk. Fares for the Boardwalk Trolley are $2.50 one way or $3.50 for unlimited rides all day. Children under 4 feet tall pay just $1.00. Babies that are being carried are free. Anyone possessing a ticket to a concert at the Ocean City Music Pier is entitled to a free one way ride that evening by just showing your ticket.
