OCEAN CITY, N.J. ---- Ocean City was named one of the favorite destination vacation spots within 300 miles of Billy Penn’s

statue. Readers submitted their responses in 25 words or less about their favorite vacation spots to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The selection appeared in the travel section of the Sunday, May 25th Philadelphia Inquirer and on line at www.philly.com/travel other destinations included St. Michaels, Knoebles Amusement Resort, Ocean City Maryland, Lancaster, Newport, R.I., Washington, D.C., Hyde Park, N.Y., Annapolis, Md. and Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.

The Ocean City Chamber of Commerce has been the lead organization on a bold marketing campaign in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania region to promote Ocean City as a great vacation destination on less then a tank away. This campaign is similar to the campaign that the Chamber launched in the 70’s when there was a gas shortage.

A popular Jersey Shore community for over 125 years, Ocean City was founded by a group of Methodist ministers who established the family theme. The City has evolved over the years into a popular vacation center with many special events, recreational activities, entertainment programs and water sports.
