Arc Artists at AC Airport

Atlantic City- Visitors to the Atlantic City airport will have a special treat while they wait for their flights this month. The Artport will host the paintings of the Arc Artists from May 1 through June 31. The Artport is a mini gallery sponsored by the South Jersey Transportation Authority and showcases the art work of talented artists from the New Jersey area for the enjoyment of the traveling public.

"This is an exceptional opportunity for some very exceptional artists.", said Joanne Bernardini of the Ocean City Fine Arts League. The Arc artists are a group of 12 artists with developmental and physical disabilities that receive weekly art instruction from established artists at the OC Arts League. "Instructors Thelma Snyder and Sue Rau have nurtured these artists for the last few years sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for art and now these artists are exhibiting in a gallery where 70,000 travelers will enjoy their work this month!" continued Bernardini.

The Artport program is managed by Michael Cagno of the Noyes Museum of Art in Oceanville. As Executive Director of the Museum, Cagno offered this opportunity to the Arc Artists. The Arc artists have been working diligently to prepare a show that is built upon paintings they created of famous people. The show features portraits of John Wayne, Bruce Springstein, Elvis, Van Gough and sports great MikeSchmidt. They have also included a cityscape that captures the small town charm of Main Street USA that was inspired by a recent trip to Millville.

The public is invited to see this exhibition which runs from May 1 through June 31. There is no charge for admission and visitors can park for free to view the exhibit. Under the auspices of the Artport program, Atlantic City International Airport will continually host art exhibits in the terminal building even as the airport continues to renovate and expand.
