William McMahon, III Named Citizen of the Year

Ocean City, NJ - The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce is honored to announce the recipients of the Chamber’s 2016 Citizen of the Year Award and Outstanding Business and Beautification Awards.  The awards will be presented at the Chamber’s dinner Tuesday, November 15th at The Ocean City Yacht Club.

This year, the Citizen of the Year Award will be presented to William (Bill) McMahon, III. Mr. McMahon is president of McMahon Insurance Agency. He has dedicated many years as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Ocean City's Troop 32, is on the board of the NJ Professional Insurance Agents & is a board member and Past President (2014-2016) of the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce.

OC Chamber to Host Welcome Night

Ocean City, NJ- The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce is continuing their proud tradition of hosting Welcome Night.  This year, Welcome Night will be held on Wednesday, October 26th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Please note that Welcome Night will be held at Ocean City Civic Center located on 6th Street by the Boardwalk due to Boardwalk construction.  Admission is free and all area residents are encouraged to attend.  Fabulous door prizes provided by local businesses will be given out throughout the evening.

OCTC Promises a Lovely Night with Cinderella

The Middle School Jr. Co of Ocean City Theatre Company is currently in preparation for their summer production, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (g2k version).  This timeless classic runs at the Ocean City Music Pier on Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27 at 7:30 PM. In this well known fairy tale, our heroine (Julie Stinson) lives as a virtual slave to her stepmother (Emily Torrence) and her two stepsisters (Julia Wilson and Ashleigh Martin).  She dreams of attending the ball that the King and Queen (Aidan Brandt and Anastasia Cwietniewicz) are throwing for their son (Scott Avellino). Will the prince find a bride at the ball? With help from her Fairy Godmother (Bridget Douqherty), Cinderella’s dreams are brought to reality.  Told in a lighthearted, comedic fashion, Hammerstein’s message is that no matter what situation you happen to be in, there is hope that you can make your wishes and dreams come true.

Olympic Gold Medalist Nastia Liukin Named Night in Venice Grand Marshal

Nastia Liukin will serve as grand marshal for the 62nd annual Night in Venice boat parade on Saturday, July 16, 2016.

Liukin was a five-time Olympic gymnastics medalist and the all-around champion at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. She will work as an NBC Sports commentator for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Liukin is known to many from her appearances in “Dancing With the Stars” and numerous other television shows.

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce six new Grand Opening ceremonies were held this week. Ribbon cuttings were held at Fisherman’s Cove, Bubble Tea and Beyond, Cone Appetit, Shades of Ocean City, Jon & Patty’s, and Hearth and Sole.

Humane Society of OC Announces Annual Fundraisers

The Humane Society of Ocean City (HSOC) will hold its annual golf tournament on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Harbor Pines Country Club in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The HSOC will then hold its first “Show Us Your Paws” parade on Saturday, June 11, 2016 with registration starting at 4:00 p.m. at 6th Street on the Boardwalk. Both events serve as HSOC fundraisers.

Ocean City Bike Advocates Receive Highest Honor

NJ Bike & Walk Coalition's 'Advocate of the Year' Awards Presented to BikeOCNJ at Annual Summit

New Jersey’s statewide bicycle and pedestrian advocacy organization has designated Fair Haven Mayor Benjamin Lucarelli and Ocean City bike advocacy group BikeOCNJ as the 2016 recipients of its Advocate of the Year Award.  Selected by the Board of Directors of the NJ Bike & Walk Coalition each year, individuals and organizations are given the award in recognition of their excellence in the bicycle and pedestrian advocacy movement.

"This year's recipients truly distinguished themselves through their highly effective advocacy efforts," said Brian Stolar, Chair of the NJ Bike & Walk Coalition Board of Directors.  "Mayor Lucarelli and BikeOCNJ were instrumental in seeing Complete Streets realized not only as a policy and planning principle, but also as a fully implemented practice that is making their communities safer and more vibrant."

Mayor Lucarelli and Bike OCNJ, represented by Co-chairs Thomas Heist and Drew Fasy, were presented with their awards at last Saturday's NJ Bike & Walk Summit at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey.

First Night Offers 8 Hours of New Year's Entertainment for Just $15

OCEAN CITY, N.J. --- First Night, Ocean City’s Gala New Year’s Eve celebration, offers a variety of entertainment for families and individuals for just $15 a person. After Dec. 15th, price will be $20. Buy your admission buttons now and take advantage of the discount.

The holiday gala features 76 entertainment programs at central locations from 4 p.m. till midnight. There will be a fireworks show at midnight, weather permitting.

Ocean City Receives State Award for Complete Streets Excellence

OCEAN CITY, N.J.: This Family Resort recently received the State of New Jersey’s “Complete Streets Excellence Award.” The City was commended “for instituting an all encompassing program to provide a “safe, multi-modal transportation system that is accessible to all.”

The transportation system of “honoree communities” must accommodate transit-riders, pedestrians, and cyclists as well as motorists. Roads must be safe for children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities as well as able-bodied adults. New Jersey’s “Complete Streets Movement” seeks to institutionalize these principles in all state communities.

Michael Dattilo Named Citizen of the Year

Ocean City, NJ - The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce is honored to announce the recipients of the Chamber’s 2015 Citizen of the Year Award and Outstanding Business and Beautification Awards.  The awards will be presented at the Chamber’s dinner Monday, November 16th at The Ocean City Yacht Club.

This year, the Citizen of the Year Award will be presented to Ocean City resident, Michael Dattilo. Mr. Dattilo has worked for the City of Ocean City in numerous capacities for more than three decades. He is the former Business Administrator for the City of Ocean City. As the Business Administrator, he was the chief operating officer, overseeing the following departments: Law, Community Services, Public Works, Financial Management, Police Services and Fire & Rescue Services. Additionally, Dattilo served as the Department Head for the following Divisions: Emergency Management, Engineering / Project Management, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Purchasing.
