Market Madness

Ocean City, NJ - Boardwalk and downtown merchants in Ocean City will offer discounts on favorite local merchandise, goods and attractions at a new event planned for Saturday, March 7. "Market Madness" will take place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the historic Flanders Hotel (11th Street and Boardwalk).

The one-day sale will feature select merchandise, goods and offers from 40 Ocean City vendors. The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, Boardwalk Merchants Association and Downtown Merchants Association are planning the event as an early-season attraction for Ocean City and a chance to preview what will be on the shelves this summer.

Michele Siekerka to Address Small Business Issues

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold the second session of its four part Business Summit. This session will focus on state issues effecting small businesses and will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020, 12:00 P.M., at The Flanders Hotel, located at 719 East 11th Street in Ocean City, NJ. 

The guest speaker is Michele Siekerka, President and CEO of New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA). The topics will include many of the challenges facing New Jersey businesses, including tax and regulatory burdens, and workforce issues.

Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce Celebrating 100th Anniversary

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce their 100th Anniversary Celebration will be held on Friday, May 8th at the Ocean City Yacht Club. Members of the Chamber are busy planning this exciting event. Committee members include former Mayor Roy Gillian, Chamber Executive Director Michele Gillian, Chamber 1st Vice President Janet Galante, and Board Members Patrick Halliday and Patrick McMahon.

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce has many accomplishments to be proud of over the past 100 years. The organization was formed from the Board of Trade in 1920. In February of 1920, the Delaware and Atlantic Telegraph Company met with the Board of Trade and offered the use of the 2nd floor of the Massey and Edwards building, at 8th and Wesley, to establish an Information and Publicity Bureau.  “Ocean City Chamber of Commerce – Bureau of Information” was placed on the door at the entrance of the building.

On April 24th, 1920, the Chamber Emblem Committee recommended the following as the official emblem of the Chamber: “The emblem, a circle within a circle, the upper half reading “America’s Greatest Family Resort” and the lower “Chamber of Commerce,” across the center on two lines “Ocean City, New Jersey.”

Santa Sighting in Ocean City 2019

An Old-Fashioned Family Christmas in Downtown Ocean City is scheduled for November 29rd, the day after Thanksgiving. Asbury Avenue, 6th-11th Streets, will be full of holiday spirit and entertainment to accompany everyone’s holiday shopping experience beginning at 2pm.

Features of the day will include visits with Santa in a lifeboat at the Mark Soifer Park across from City Hall from 1pm to 3pm, a special appearance by the Phillie Phanatic from 4pm to 6pm, Carolers in Victorian costumes, free horse and carriage rides from 1pm-4pm, and other entertainment on Asbury Ave.

Ocean City’s “Earlier than the Bird” event is your holiday wake- up call inviting one and all to come out and shop downtown for pre-holiday savings at all of your favorite shops. The morning of Saturday, November 23rd from 8am-Noon is when shoppers can find great deals at stores on Asbury Avenue from 6th-11th streets. Gillian’s Wonderland Pier Is Open for the Holidays

The Ocean City Boardwalk landmark is celebrating 90 years and is looking to end the year with a Winter Wonderland Celebration!

Ocean City, NJ – Gillian’s Wonderland Pier is now open every Saturday and Sunday through 2019.  “We’ve really planned some fun activities for kids and families alike.  The weather has been so nice that we really wanted to give our community something else to do on those winter weekends,” Jay Gillian said.  Gillian’s Wonderland Pier has activities planned such as Breakfast with Santa & Wonder Bear, Photos with Santa, Giant Wheel Rides complete with blankets to stay warm while guests take in the view and some family favorite character "Meet & Greets".  “It’s really a fun time around here!  The team is getting in the spirit and it’s been a fun process for all of us” says Dan McDermott, team member at Gillian’s and who's been responsible for the light show on the Giant Wheel.

Carrie Merritt Named Citizen of the Year by OC Chamber

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce is honored to announce the recipient of the Chamber’s 2019 Citizen of the Year Award and Outstanding Business and Beautification Awards.  The awards will be presented at the Chamber’s dinner Tuesday, November 26rd at The Flanders Hotel.

This year, the Citizen of the Year Award will be presented to Carrie Merritt. Ms. Merritt is an active citizen in Ocean City and loves the Ocean City life. She is a 1st Grade teacher at Ocean City Primary School and has been an Ocean City Red Raider since 2006.

Ms. Merritt is the 2018-2019 Cape May County Teacher of the Year and a New Jersey State Teacher of the Year Finalist. In 2016, Carrie received the AtlantiCare Healthy Educator of the Year Award.  In August 2017, she had the opportunity to represent the USA at the ITU World Championships for Long Distance Triathlon.

Meet Local Businesses, City and Local Officials and Numerous Organizations at “Welcome Night”

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce is continuing their proud tradition of hosting “Welcome Night”.  This year, “Welcome Night” will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Ocean City Civic Center located on 6th Street by the Boardwalk. Admission is free and all area residents are encouraged to attend.  Fabulous door prizes provided by local businesses will be given out throughout the evening.

Every year the Chamber of Commerce hosts “Welcome Night” to introduce new and current residents to Community, Civic and Social Organizations, Community Leaders and City Officials, as well as local businesses including restaurants, financial and insurance services, retail stores and medical offices.
