THE SNORE AT THE SHORE…ZZZZZZZZZ - QUIET PET CONTEST FOR WHITE MICE, HAMSTERS, GUINEA PIGS, TURTLES, ETC...    

Two Quiet Contests will be featured at Ocean City’s 10^th Annual Quiet Festival this year.

An exciting new event, The Snore at the Shore ©, will challenge one’s ability to imitate quiet snoring in keeping with the sleepy, laid back, personality of the event.

The annual Juried Art Show will be held at the Ocean City Arts Center throughout November.  Art will be   received for judging October 8 through October 26.  Prizes are: Best of Show, $200; Second Place, $100; Third Place, $100; and Four Honorable Mentions at $50 each.    Artists may submit up to 2 works which have been completed in the past 3 years.

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Fifth Annual Business Summit, sponsored by Sturdy Savings Bank, on Wednesday, October 17^th from 5pm-7pm at Ocean City Yacht Club in Ocean City, NJ.  The purpose of the summit is to provide information about the local and regional economy to the local businesses so that they may make informed planning and marketing decisions for next year. 

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce is continuing our proud tradition of hosting “Welcome Night”. This year, “Welcome Night” will be held on Wednesday, October 24th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at its traditional venue at the Ocean City Music Pier. Admission is free and all area residents are encouraged to attend. Fabulous door prizes provided by local businesses will be given out throughout the evening.

The Ocean City Exchange Club, in conjunction with the City of Ocean City, will be presenting the 65th annual Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 25^th beginning at 7:15pm. This Ocean City tradition remains one of longest running Halloween parades in the tri-state area. The parade will march along Asbury Avenue from 6^th to 11^th Streets.

The 17^th Trail of Two Cities 5K Run/Walk between Ocean City and Somers Point will “break new ground” this year.

The event will be over the new, $400 million causeway recently completed between the two Cities. Participants will be able to get a good look at the Bay and a good look back at Ocean City as they negotiate the new super span on their way to Somers Point.

The Ocean City First Night Committee meets year around to plan the popular New Year’s Eve event attended by over 10,000 people. The program offers 8 hours of entertainment for all ages capped by fireworks at midnight. Admission buttons are just $15

On October 12, 2012, the Ocean City Historical Museum will screen “Dial M for Murder” at the Ocean City Public Library’s Lecture Hall. Grace Kelly co-stars in this classic Alfred Hitchcock film which was originally release in 1954. Grace Kelly is considered by some to be Ocean City’s princess as well as Monaco’s. Join us as we enjoy one of her most mysterious films. Even if you aren’t a Grace Kelly fan, you’ll enjoy this film, which was ranked #9 on the American Film Institute’s list of the 10 greatest films in the genre of Mystery in June 2008.

The "South Jersey Plein Air Painters" and invited guest artists will exhibit their interpretations of the Jersey Shore at the Ocean city Arts Center throughout September.  A "Meet the Artists" reception, open and free to the public, will be held Friday, September 14, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.

Retired longtime Ocean City High School teachers Ida Margolis and Ginny Mulford have collaborated on a children's book "Carrots for Charlie".  Ms. Mulford, the book's illustrator, will sign copies at Sun Rose Words and Music, located at 756 Asbury Avenue, on Wednesday, August 29, from 11 am to 1 pm. 

The King and Queen of Plop Contest, also know as the Fall Guy and Fall Gal Competition, will be held on the 9^th Street Beach just south of the Music Pier on Friday, August 31 starting at 11 a.m.

Competitors are requested to demonstrate their best plop or Fall as a way of welcoming the new season to Ocean City. The event is scheduled for the beginning of the Labor Day

Weekend to obtain publicity for Ocean City at a key time. It is also an opportunity to draw attention to your business from the crowds on the beach and boardwalk.

Ocean City’s popular Baby Crawling Race, The Pamper Scamper, is set for Tues., Aug. 7 at the 6^th St. Beach Volley Ball Courts opposite Wonderland Pier. Registration is at 9 a.m. and the races begin 9:30 a.m. The contest is free and prizes are awarded.

The race is for babies 15 months and younger. The event is sponsored by the Ocean City Recreation Division with prizes donated by Ocean City merchants.

In its final 2012 show at the Ocean City Music Pier Series, Tony Mart’s will present a smokin’ hot jam Saturday, August 18^th when the finest rock musicians and entertainers in South Jersey come together to perform the all-star “Music that made Tony Mart’s Famous” show, a tribute to the golden years of Rock ‘n Roll at the Jersey Shore.

OCEAN CITY, N.J. --- Ocean City’s 103rd Annual Baby Parade, the longest consecutively run in the nation, is set for Thursday, Aug. 9^th. The colorful event begins at 10:15 a.m. Parade route is from 6^th to 12^th Sts. on the Boardwalk.

Ocean City leads the world in holding the most Baby Parades. No other community or organization has held 100 parades, let alone 103. Grand marshals of this year’s Parade will be Fred and Susan Miller, authors of popular Ocean City history books.
