Earlier Than the Bird, Downtown OCNJ
OCEAN CITY, NJ –Ocean City’s “Earlier than the Bird” event is your holiday wake- up call inviting one and all to come out and shop downtown for pre-holiday savings at all of your favorite shops. The morning of Saturday November 23rd from 8am-Noon is when shoppers can find great deals at stores on Asbury Avenue from 6th-11th streets.

Ocean City Boardwalk Store Wins National Honor
Henry's Jewelers on the Ocean City Boardwalk was recently named one of the top 50 design jewelers in the country by the JCK Design Center, publishers of JCK, a national trade magazine.

Albert Trots Off With Dog of Year Title
OCEAN CITY, N.J.—Albert, a sprightly English Springer Spaniel, was crowned Ocean City’s “Dog of the Year” during a ceremony at the Port O’ Call in Ocean City on Sunday. The award goes to the canine that has raised the most money for the Cape May County Dog Park in Ocean City.
Photos of the contestants were featured for months on the boardwalk and downtown locations and the public was invited to show its support with money votes. Albert was sponsored by Boyars Market and Berger Realty and likes to swim in the Ocean regardless of the temperature. He has accumulated quite a fan club and frequents local spots like Boyars where he is treated to liverwurst, milk bones and lots of love.

OC Chamber Hosts Welcome Night

Sun., Oct. 20: South Jersey Cruisers CLASSIC CAR RUN: Approximately 200 cars will arrive in Ocean City between 11: 45 a.m. and noon and park at the lot across from the Flanders Hotel, 11th and Ocean Ave. Included will be Street Rods, Classic Cars and cars from the 60s and 70s as well as contemporary Camaros and Mustangs. Moorlyn Family Theatre to Remain Open Through Fall
For the first time in recent years, the Moorlyn Family Theatre will remain open through the fall and Christmas seasons and into First Night celebrations. Because of the new management, distributors are willing to provide first-run releases on a trial basis, depending on local response. Extensive parking is free in the municipal lots adjacent to Moorlyn Terrace and 8th Street.

Cape May County American Legion Posts to Honor POW/MIA's
The Cape May County American Legion Posts will conduct the POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony on Friday, September 20, 2013 to ensure that those courageous Americans, who gave their lives to preserving and protecting our freedom, will never be forgotten. The Ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial located at the Ocean View Service Area on the Garden State Parkway (mile marker 18.3). All members of the community, especially veterans, are encouraged to attend.

Frankenstein to Visit Ocean City Library in October
Frankenstein, the world’s most famous monster, will visit Ocean City this October.
The appearance is made possible by actor-artist Ron MacCloskey who has gathered the most extensive collection of Frankenstein artwork ever shown at a single venue. It will feature some of the country’s most famous artists and illustrators.
The exhibit will be displayed the month of October in the atrium and adjacent area of the Ocean City Free Public Library, 17th and Simpson Ave., and serve as its Halloween gift to the community.

Ocean City Welcome Center Grand Opening
The new Roy Gillian Welcome Center, located on the Route 52 Causeway, will hold a Grand Opening ceremony on Friday, September 20th, 2013 at 11:30 A.M.
The building of the new Roy Gillian Welcome Center was part of the $396 million New Jersey Department of Transportation rebuilding of the Route 52 bridges and causeway project. It is a replica of the early 20th –century Ocean City Yacht Club that was demolished in 1944.

South Jersey Premiere of The Quest Movie on Sept. 22nd - Features OC Native Lance Miller
Ocean City, NJ— Ocean City native Lance Miller returns to the town where he grew up to attend a special screening of THE QUEST documentary, an emotional story about the history of Corvette racing and his father’s dream. This event takes place following the Boardwalk Corvette Show on Sunday, September 22nd at the Ocean City Music Pier on the Boardwalk. The historic 1960 #3 Corvette featured in the film will be on display at 5:00 p.m., followed by the screening at 6:00 p.m. and a Meet & Greet with the filmmakers at 7:45 p.m.

Fema Releases Updated Flood Maps for Cape May County
Earlier today city staff attended a meeting at the Cape May County Office of Emergency Management to review and discuss new “Preliminary Work Maps” developed by FEMA. FEMA considers these maps the best available flood hazard data and, once released, they will replace the Advisory Base Flood Elevation (ABFE) maps that were issued in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

OC High School Student Wins Junior National Shuffle Board Title for 2nd Time
Ocean City High School student, Alec Helm, has won the Junior National Singles Shuffleboard Championship for the second consecutive year. The 16 year old Ocean City resident copped the crown during the annual competition in Lakeside, Ohio.
