What's Happening in Ocean City, NJ

The City's Annual CITY WIDE YARD SALE is set for Sat., April 24 from 8 a.m. until noon. There will be table sales at the Tabernacle, 5th and Asbury Ave. and City wide. The sale is held rain or shine. City Wide locations will be posted on a map that will be distributed Thursday through Saturday at City Hall Annex, 901 Asbury Ave., the Chamber of Commerce Information Center, 9th and Simpson Ave. (across from TD Bank) and at the Tabernacle Grounds. The X Factor youngsters of the Intermediate School will hold a car wash in front of the Tabernacle during Yard Sale hours.

The Tabernacles Choral Festival listed for Saturday had to be cancelled because several groups became unavailable.

30th Annual SPRING BLOCK PARTY is set for Sat., May 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Asbury Ave.The mile long event extends from 5thto 14thSts. on Asbury and features 375 crafters and food vendors. In addition to the street tables of crafters, the City's unique stores and boutiques wills be open, many featuring specials.There will be live entertainment from 11 a.m. till 4 p.m. and free pony rides for children on the Tabernacle Grounds during those same hours.

THE OCEAN CITY DOG PARK Assn. is hosting the second in a series of "pet-iquette" seminars. It will be a Public Forum as well as an educational lecture. The Dog Park Committee wants to make sure that park users know they can ask questions and raise concerns. The event will be held on Sat., May 15 at the Port O' Call, 15th and Boardwalk, enter at 15th and Wesley. Coffee Danish will be served.

The GARDEN CLUB of Ocean City will present David Culp, a nationally known Garden expert, who will talk about Gardens, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Culp is featured in Martha Stewart's current` magazine with an eight page article. The program will be held Tues., May 4, at 1pm, at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 30th and Bay Ave. Fee for non members is $5.

The Ocean City FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY is having a Book Sale at the Library Annex, 15th and West Ave. Hours are Fri., April 23 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sat., April 24 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.The event is organized and run by the Friends and Volunteers of the Library who are holding a Dessert Tea on May 6th from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Flanders Hotel, 11th St. and Boardwalk. Featured speaker will be Beth Dunn, author of Social Climbers. For information, call the Library 609-399-2434.

THE OCEAN CITY PTA is holding a USED CLOTHING DRIVE on Sat., April 24 from noon to 2 p.m. only at the following locations: Ocean City Intermediate School, 18th St. and Bay Ave., front driveway or Ocean City Fire House Parking Lot, 6th and West Ave. They are collecting wearable, useable clothing (Men, Women and Children's) shoes, belts, handbags, linens, stuffed animals and hard toys.Please put all items in well tied plastic, garbage bags. Items can be mixed and should be clean. The PTA will receive a donation for the poundage collected.The Ocean City Clothes Closet is in need of summer clothing.
