Two Air Shows in Ocean City This Weekend and More

What's Happening in Ocean City, NJ 9/21/16

It will be a busy weekend in Ocean City. We will be presenting two air shows and hosting the WALK FOR THE WOUNDED, MS BIKE RIDE and OCNJ HALF MARATHON.

The OCEAN CITY AIRPORT FESTIVAL, the annual free festival at Ocean City Municipal Airport, 26th Street and Bay Avenue, is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. The event features a ground display of unusual airplanes, including a B-25J Mitchell Bomber and TBM Torpedo Avenger. The festival also features the N.J. Pine Barons Radio Controlled Model Airplane Show, a banner pick-up demonstration, a children’s paper airplane contest, an antique car and truck show, “Bubble Mania,” children’s bounce activity, food and more. The BOARDWALK AEROBATIC AIRSHOW returns to Ocean City from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25. Planes can be viewed from the beach or boardwalk between Sixth Street and 14th Street. (Sept. 22) RUN FOR THE FALLEN: Ocean City’s American Legion Post 524 will oversee eleven memorial stops of the 2016 Run for the Fallen, as it winds its way through town on Thursday September 22. The New Jersey Run for the Fallen is an organization of military runners who travel throughout New Jersey in memory of service members killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and New Dawn. At the end of each mile stands a memorial marker where runners pause to salute service members’ lives and the sacrifices made by their families. (Sept. 24)  WALK FOR THE WOUNDED: 8:30 a.m. registration in front of the Ocean City Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. This is a three-mile walk on the Boardwalk to raise money for wounded soldiers returning from overseas. A ceremony honoring our military will be held 9:30 a.m. The walk will start 10 a.m. The Tidal Wave Band will play from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit Operation First Response. (Oct. 1) The JOHN WILLIAMS TRIBUTE CONCERT that was cancelled on Sept. 4 has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m., Oct. 1 at the Music Pier. Customers holding tickets for the Sept. 4th show may use tickets they already have. Please direct all inquiries for refunds or exchanges to the Music Pier Box Office, (609) 524-9248 so that the staff can determine who will receive refunds and who will attend the new date. (Oct. 7, 8, 9) NUNSENSE by the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company. This musical comedy is a winner of four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Broadway Musical. (Oct. 8) FALL BLOCK PARTY and FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR: The annual, popular Fall Block Party will run 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from 5th to 14th Sts. on Asbury Ave. Over 400 crafters, food vendors, music and more. (Oct. 9) 5TH ANNUAL SPOOKS ‘N’ KOOKS COSTUME SURF CONTEST: Registration begins 9 a.m. at the Seventh Street Beach. Entry fee is 10 canned goods or a $10 ShopRite gift card. Contest begins at 10 a.m. Divisions include: Open, Longboard, Short Board, Women’s and 13-and-Under. All proceeds benefit the Ocean City Ecumenical Council Food Cupboard. (Nov. 10-12) QUIET FESTIVAL: Opening Ceremonies  11 a.m. Thursday at Mark Soifer Park across from City Hall features opening ceremonies, the Yawn Along to the tune of Beautiful Dreamer, Quiet Kites, Maple Leaf Drop, Paper Airplane Flying, the World’s only Wind Chimes Band, Bubbles Galore and More.

Saturday, 9 a.m. till noon at the Ocean City Library, the QUIET PET CHALLENGE is set for mice, hamsters, Turtles, Rabbits, Ferrets, Birds, etc. Participants judged for cuteness, most unusual quiet pet, best decorated display/habitat, best costume, Superhero themes, Swimsuit and Lettuce Eating Contest plus much more.
