Earlier Than The Bird Kicks Off Holiday Events Saturday

“It’s your Holiday Wake-Up Call!” The Popular “Earlier than the Bird” pre-holiday savings spree is set for Sat., Nov. 22nd from 8 a.m. till Noon. The event extends from 6th to 11th St. on Asbury Ave., in the City’s Downtown, recently voted the best in South Jersey.

You are encouraged to shop early in your pajamas to enjoy the best buys. There will be free turkeys for best dressed. Plus free coffee and giveaways at Jon & Patty’s Bistro, 6th and Asbury Ave., Ocean City Coffee, 9th and Asbury and Starbucks, 11th and Asbury.

(Nov.22-23) The CHRISTMAS ARTS & CRAFTS FESTIVAL features 75 booths from leading crafters throughout the East Coast. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. This is the second crafts show of the season produced by Norman and JoAnne Schaut who have raised thousands of dollars for local charities with their festivals. (Nov. 25) Coastal Christian Ocean City will host the Ocean City Community Thanksgiving Service at 7 p.m. Location is the corner of 8th St. and West Ave. The service is sponsored by the Ocean City Ministerium and City Ecumenical Council. Program will include Thanksgiving Hymns, the Presidential Thanksgiving Proclamation and Thanksgiving Sermon. Mayor Gillian will present opening remarks and will read the Proclamation. City clergy members will participate.

A free will offering will be taken to support the work of the Ecumenical Council that includes the Food Cupboard and Clothes Closet. Contributions of non-perishable food items for the Food Cupboard would be appreciated to assist those needy in the community. Dessert Fellowship will follow the service. Public is invited.

(Nov. 25) The John Walter Cape Community Band will perform a FREE CONCERT at the Ocean City Library, 17th and Simpson Ave. at 7 p.m. Free refreshments will be provided. Bring a friend and enjoy an evening of outstanding music.

(Nov. 27) The Fast and the Furriest TURKEY TROT & One Mile Fun Run. A 5K Run/ Walk Thanksgiving morning and 1 mile Kids fun run benefits the Ocean City Humane Society, an award winning, no-kill Shelter. Pre-register on line at www.active.com. (Nov. 29)  TURKEY TROT SURFING Contest: 9 a.m. at the 7th St. Beach. No Wave Date Nov. 30. Divisions for 13 and Under, Junior Men 14-18, Men 19-30, Masters 30 and over, Longboard Open and Women’s Open.
